What keeps you up at night?
Have you or a friend ever been bullied? How did you get through it?
Mostly verbal attacks and a bit of shoving.
I remember crying a lot, at school as well as at home.
The bullying wasn't the worst part though.
The worst part was my mom telling me that somehow, I must be doing something wrong, because otherwise I wouldn't be getting picked on.
Bullying stopped when I started reading in every free second, especially during breaks, and almost completely stopped talking to people.
People tend to leave people that are reading alone (at least they did in my school).
Reading people often just kinda fade into the background.

Cleaned the grill, BBQ'ed the first ribs of the season and got most of my gardening done this weekend. YAY!
Little Star helped with the planting.
She loves digging in the dirt together with mommy and heaping earth into the planting pots ^_^
She's up to three word sentences by now, german and english mixed...and sometimes she'll even use 4 word sentences. Favourite word at the moment? "Meins!!!" (=Mine) often used in "Meine Mama, meine Papa, meine Frosch!".

A few months back, I fell helplessly in love with the animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" by Nickelodeon (NOT the M.NIght Shalalal movie (that one's so horrendous that the fanbase started cheering when word got out there probably wouldn't be another one) or the one with the blue aliens).
That alone is worth checking out for anybody who doesn't know it yet.
Awesome art, epic storytelling, fascinating characters that grow and develop as the series progresses, some squee-worthy worldbuilding.....anything a good story needs, this one has it.
I started spreading the love in form of christmas and birthday-presents (I chipped together with my family and it helped that you can get all 3 seasons over at amazon.co.uk for a good price).
And now I've fallen in love all over again, of all things, with the main villain for the first season: Commander Zhao.
He's hot-tempered, ambitious, cunning, completely lacks a moral compass, ruthless, cruel, looks manly without his shirt on....sombody you just love to hate.
And then I stumbled across rufftoon 's Watertribe AU comic, where Zhao has his memories taken away by the spirits and is left in the hands of his enemies....who have no clue what to make of that.....and he is left believing he is one of them.
The art is out of this world, matching the original series bit for bit, and the same goes for the story-telling.
If I have managed to spark your interest only in the slightest: GO READ!!!!
It is amazing. Stunning. Riveting.
Piece of advice: Take care not to start when you have other plans for the day, because the darn thing has almost 450 pages, is unbelievably well written and the artwork alone will keep you glued to the screen, never mind the adventures of the out-of-the-frying-pan-into-the fire tenacious, grumpy, desperate, hopeful, hot, angry, proud, confused, determined Commander Zhao.
If you start, you WON'T be able to stop.
If you do want to read (you have been warned! Make sure there's plenty to drink and to eat next to where you're sitting!) you can find the story here:

First of all, a merry christmas to all of you (and a nice holiday to those that aren't christians).
For the first time in ages, we're having a white christmas here in Germany.
So white in fact that we're almost snowed-in. Looks incredibly pretty though!
As usual, right before christmas, things have been super busy, bordering on frantic. I haven't even managed to decorate our christmas tree, let alone get my christmas cards / packages posted. They will be on their way as soon as the postal office opens again though!
Love, and a very merry christmas indeed to all of you,
Anda

Still lots of work and the end to this little project somewhere on the horizon.
I went looking for a little motivation / amusement to keep me working and came across "Avatar the Last Airbender".
Very nice to have in the background when you're busy filing / paying bills / writing official letters.
A personal favourite is Prince Zuko and his Uncle Iroh. *g* I'm a total sucker for redemption stories and here's one series that totally and believably and heartwarmingly pulls it off.
Lucky me, there's also an AMV around that sums up the best Zuko moments, together with an awesome soundtrack: Ana Johnsons's "We are".
I thought I'd share, so here it is:

Little Star has grown LOTS ^_^
She's one year old by now and starting to walk and talk. (BTW THANK YOU for the V-gift for her birthday,
thepictureofmay ).
Little Star merrily toddles along if you hold her by the hand and says "Ma" or "Ma...ma" and sometimes also "Ba...ba", including baby-signs. She does eat some solids by now (buttered bread is always a favourite) but about 50 % of her nutrition still comes from me. We also still co-sleep and will continue to do so for a good long while. I LOVE co-sleeping. She still wakes up several times a night and I don't have to get up or anything to calm her down again. I just need to roll around so she can feed and we both go back to sleep within seconds. Heck, we don't even wake up properly! ^_^
She's also big on exploring her surroundings and trying to keep track of her is like trying to keep track of a bag of fleas. Good thing most of our house is child-safe by now! She also adores climbing the stairs. She started doing it at about 8 months of age, when she started to crawl (forward...she managed backwards at about 7 months), sit and stand. (Crawling, sitting, pulling herself up at the couch-table and standing all happened pretty much within a week or two, after a long period of no new developments...she kinda develops new abilities in spurts). About a month ago she also learned how to go DOWN the stairs again. She also climbs up the couch and down the bed.
She's ticklish right below her arm-pits and there's a nursery-rhyme that ends with me tickling her chin that also makes her giggle. She loves dropping objects into containers, e.g. stones she finds in the garden into empty vases. She doesn't like grass / lawns much and she always tries to crawl onto the open door of the dish-washer whenever I'm emptying or filling it (which usually ends up in me telling her "NO!" and carrying her to the other end of the room). All in all she's the sweetest thing in our life and we consider ourselves truly blessed to have her! ^_^
P.S.: After over 10 years together, me and
sunshader tied the knot about a week ago. It was a great excuse to throw a gigantic party for all our friends, a lot of which we see far to seldom. It was great. ^_^
